IMSO Details 

Objectives​​

​

IMSO 2025 aims to provide opportunities to:

 

  • To allow primary school students from various countries developed the ability in mathematics and science at full potential.

  • To create an academic atmosphere, encourages innovation, research development and academic progress.

  • To create a network of cooperation in the development of teaching and learning of mathematics and science with international educational organizations.

  • To disseminate international cultural exchanges and strengthen the relationship between teachers and students.​​

Participants, Officials, and Expenses:

 

  1. Each participating country is allowed to nominate

    1 team leader

    1 tutor and 6 participants for the Math competition,

    1 tutor and 6 participants for the Science competition

  2. The participants of the Olympiad must be primary school students and not older than 13

    years of age before October 5, 2025. Participants should be chosen through a selection

    process.

  3. We are recruiting six students to represent Team USA in each category of the IMSO, with each student competing in only one subject — either Mathematics or Science — to ensure focused preparation in their area of strength.

  4. Each participating country is responsible for their own travelling expenses including the

    procurement of the passports and VISAs to and from Kedah, Malaysia.

  5. The organizers of the 22nd IMSO will provide all delegates as stated in point (1) with free

    registration and free accommodation, including meals, as well as local transportation, for the duration of the contest schedule.

  6. Additional participants, observers, tutors, and parents shall pay a registration fee of USD

    $650 per delegate.

Rules and Regulations

  • IMSO 2025 is an individual competition. The questions consist of 2 parts: theoretical and exploration questions.

  • The questions are constructed based on Mathematics and Science elementary school curricula, reference books, and other relevant sources, which cover intellectual reasoning and creativity.

  • Instructions and questions will be in English. All answers must be in English. All other languages will not be considered for marking.

  • Participants are not allowed to bring any English dictionaries, books, scientific dictionaries, calculators, and other electronic devices.

Medals and Awards

  • Approximately two thirds of the contestants will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals

  • in the ratio 1 : 2 : 3.

  • The Contestant who has the highest score of the competition will receive the Overall

  • Champion trophy.

  • The Best Exploration Champion trophy and The Best Theoretical Champion trophy will also

  • be awarded.

  • A Contestant can get at most one of those trophies, in the order of Overall Champion, Exploration

  • Champion and then Theoretical Champion trophy.

  • Every contestant who attends the event will receive a certificate of participation.
